Camping on the moon!

October 23rd, 2008

lunar tentCamping on the moon? Sure, you betcha. Well, it’s not as pretty as it looks in this artist rendering, but you get the drift.

The Challenger Center for Space Science Education is offering a contest for classrooms from grades 6-10 to name the inflatable moon-hut, developed by IRC Dover for proposed short term lunar habitation. More information regarding the rules and the grading system for all name proposals can be found at the Challenger Center website.

They have been testing this thing at the camp in Antarctica (where it is hella cold and desolate, kinda like the moon) and they have written a pretty interesting blog about it, in case you ever wondered what it would be like to go camp in a moon hut in Antarctica!
